The Front (East) Parlor was opened up to the main stairway and vestibule by removing a wall four feet south of the stairway. This room contains six windows in total, four of which run almost to the floor and look out on to the recreated wrap-around porch and the yard. The raspberry “London” sofa and ottoman were custom made by Mitchell + Gold in North Carolina, and the club chair and its ottoman were made in Singapore. Singaporean antiques in the room include a teak “treasure chest” used as a coffee table, a set of teak stacking bookcases with glass fronts, a blackwood plant stand and side table with inlaid marble, and a beautifully carved hutch with an inset mirror. Two other mirrors were fashioned from the panels of a Chinese wedding bed, and the Oriental carpets were purchased in Asia when Jay, one of the owners, was living there. Streaming music is available throughout the house and on the porch, and can be controlled via a wall panel in each room.
